  Dick's is currently testing five store concepts.   Here are the reasons. The company is also working on store renovations and expanding its private label reach to ensure it remains in a winning position. Dick's launched four new store concepts in June last year. They also announced the launch date for a fifth. Dick's also created a men's private label and signed brand ambassadors for two of its own brands. All this while undergoing store renovations. This is a huge undertaking for retailers, especially when there are two concepts involved.   Dick's first House of Sport location  opened in April , with experiential features like a turf field, a rock climbing wall and a batting cage.   The company's  planned Public Lands concept , which is expected to debut in the second half of the year, is an entirely new banner focused on the outdoors space.   Industry experts predict that tap-to-phone payments will gain popularity. Companies have been looking at ways to make contactless payments more popular, such as turning a smartphone into an automated payments processor. Mobile point-of sale (mPOS), is the use of a smartphone as a terminal to process payment transactions. It's different from a fixed terminal.   Smartphones equipped with near-field communication chips (NFC) can digitally process transactions with the touch of a card or smartphone. "mPOS enables businesses to accept card payments where they previously could not" and helps retailers such as cab drivers, who operate a mobile business, according to  Juniper Research . Globally, the shipment of mPOS terminals is expected to increase to 32 million units in 2026 from 20million units this year. This represents a 56% increase.   To avoid China's tariff risk, you can find more sources from India and Bangladesh Dive brief: Guess sourced 27% of its apparel, jewelry and accessories from China in fiscal year 2021, according to  its latest sustainability report , a sharp drop from 42% in fiscal year 2020 as the company continues reducing its reliance on China to avoid tariff risk. In fiscal year 2021, a greater percentage of apparel company's purchase came from suppliers from India and Bangladesh, with approximately 23.5% and 18.5%, respectively.   Both were less than 15% in fiscal year 2020. Guess stated in the report that the changes were made to diversify its sources and "as the result of changing economic circumstances and purchasing strategies." It also noted that it has decreased volume from countries other than its top sourcing regions in order to strengthen its supply chain.   Target reports a 25% increase in Black representation at officer level Dive brief: Almost a year after  promising to advance social justice  and create a work environment where Black employees feel included, Target reported progress in its 2020 Workforce Diversity Report. Target said Black representation  increased nearly 25%  among its officers in addition to "positive progress" across all salaried levels, the company said Tuesday.   The company in September 2020  promised to increase Black representation  across the company by 20% by 2023. Target's diversity in its workforce has been stable since the last diversity report.   Target's team is 50% white and 25% black.   Target's team members (58%) as well as its leadership team (50%) comprise roughly half of the women.   Tractor Supply increases supply chain investments Dive brief: Tractor Supply Company plans to add three new distribution centers to its network over the next five years, bringing its total distribution count to 11 as the company accelerates investments in its supply chain, executives said on the company's  Q2 earnings call . Tractor Supply has already begun construction on its ninth distribution centre, which will cost $70million and be located in Navarre (Ohio).   It is scheduled to be completed by the fall of 2022,  according to a press release .   The exact locations of the two next facilities are not yet known.
