How can a handheld help inventory counts?
A handheld is a portable computer which enables the user to scan stock products one by one or scan a single item and enter a quantity. After the stock count, the device will then sync back with the POS system. After the stock count is synced with the system, a discrepancy report is where merchandise counts differ from what merchandise count exists at the point of sale.
Is a handheld different from a scanner?
Yes. Though both pieces of equipment are portable and can operate wirelessly, they function differently. Scanners just read barcodes. Inventory devices, however, count and store the information they've scanned.
